Granite Construction Inc, headquartered in Watsonville, CA, is a civil contractor and heavy construction material producer. As of 2020, the company employs about 2,800 people and has an annual revenue of $3.6 billion.

The company constructed and repaired multiple sections of the U.S.-Mexico border from 2008 to 2017. In 2011, Granite Construction repaired 2.8 miles of border fence in Nogales, AZ for approximately $11.6 million. Between 2015-2017 it performed construction work in a border station of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in Naco, AZ, and replaced 7.5 miles of border fence in the same area for $44.7 million. The company has not had any border-related federal contracts since 2017.

Granite Construction also participated in building previous iterations of the barrier along the U.S.-Mexico border. In 2007, it was subcontracted by Michael Baker International, the primary contractor for U.S.-Mexico border design and construction at the time, to build parts of the barrier. As a part of that, CBP awarded Granite Construction several contracts to build the border fence in Nogales, AZ (2.77 miles), Imperial, CA (2.85 miles), El Paso, TX, and other locations, for a total of approximately $247 million.
