Ashtrom Group is one of the largest construction and real estate groups in Israel. Through its subsidiaries, the group engages in construction, infrastructure, development, industry, income property, and housing services businesses.
Shortly after the 1967 occupation, Ashtrom stated engaging in settlements' construction beyond the Green Line. In 1970 the company took part in the construction of the first Jewish settlement neighborhoods in occupied East Jerusalem. This included the construction of Ramot Polin, a housing project, which included 728 housing units and public buildings in the settlement neighborhood of Ramot. Between the years 1974-1980, the company built in the occupied Golan and the Sinai Peninsula, including the in Israeli settlements Yamit and Ofira (both were evacuated in 1982 under the Egypt–Israel Peace Treaty). In 1994, Ashtorm took part in the establishment of the Beithar Illit settlement in the West Bank.
Ashtrom's long lasting involvement in the expansion of Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory continued during the last decade. Through its subsidiary - Ashtrom Jerusalem Prefabrication Industry, the company constructed housing projects in the neighborhoods of Gilo, Ramat Eshkol and Nof Zion , all located in occupied East Jerusalem and in the settlement of Beithar Illit. Ashdar Building Company, another subsidiary of the group, has built housing projects in the settlements of Oranit, Alfei Menashe, Ma'ale Adumimand Beitar Illit.
In 2004, the company won a tender of the Israeli Ministry of Defense for the supply of construction materials for the checkpoints in the Separation Wall.
The company also owns and operates two quarries in the West Bank, Netivei Beithar which is located next to the settlement of Beithar Illit and Netivei Adumit next to the Mishor Adumim settlement industrial zone. The company exploits Palestinian natural resources and openly declares that the excavated material from the Palestinian territory is used for the needs of the Israeli construction sector.
The Ashtrom Group is a partner (47.5%) in the CityPass consortium of the Jerusalem Light Rail, a transportation project serving the settlement neighborhoods in occupied East Jerusalem. Company's subsidiary - Ashtrom Engineering and Construction, has built the Light Rail's depot in the settlement neighborhood of Pisgat Ze'ev. Paving bricks manufactured by Netivei Noy, back then one group subsidiaries and today one of its brands, were documented during the construction of the Light Rail.
Ashtrom group also owns Isra-Beton, which has a concrete plant in the industrial zone of Atarot in the West Bank, Ashlad, which rents out industrial spaces in Imanuel and in the industrial zones of Barkan and Neve Tzuf (Halamish) in the West Bank and MLT Buildings, which built a day care center in the settlement of Karnei Shomron.
Ashtrom also owns a stake in Mivtach Shamir Holdings, a stakeholder in Digal Investments and Holdings. Ashtrom provided construction for Digal's settlement project in Nof Zion, which is in occupied Jerusalem.
Additionally, the group collaborated with the Israeli Prison Service. The group build the Ofer prison, an incarnation facility in the West Bank, dedicated exclusively to Palestinian political prisoners and Hasharon prison - a detention center within Israel, in which women Palestinian political prisoners are been detained. Through its subsidiary - Ashkubit, the group supplied prefabs (modular concrete structures) to the Ofer prison and to the Ramon prison within Israel, in both Palestinian political prisoners are incarcerated.
